"Mommy, hurry!! Daddy will be home soon!!".
The high pitched voice of your three year old son brought you back to your thoughts. It was just two years since your husband, Haruka, left for Tokyo.
You remembered it all..
The tears, the hugs and the last words..
It was too much for your heart to handle.
"Haru...please tell me you'll come home soon.."
"I-I'm sorry but I need to do this for our family..."
"But Haru,what about our baby?"
"Forgive me _______...I promise I'll be home soon..."
....but he wasn't...
It had been nearly two years since you last heard from your husband. There were no texts, letters or e-mails; just the undying thought of being in his arms again.
You were clueless about the whereabouts of Haru. He could be messing around with other women while you waited for him, in hopes of returning home. However, you knew that whatever he did, he would did it for you.
"Mommy! Mommy! Look!!" your son, Hikari, cried as he held up a drawing of a dolphin.
"Will Daddy like it?"
You stared lovingly into your son's navy blue eyes. You could feel his eagerness and excitement; making it harder to tell the truth. It would break your heart to see your little boy in tears. You couldn't bear to see him so upset.
"Of course he would!!"
You smiled as you watched your son play happily with his toy boat.
Your son was a clear reflection of your husband; jet black hair, navy blue eyes and a love for water. You could remember holding him for the first time; the way he cuddled closer into your arms.
Hikari meant the world to you. He made sure he kept you company while Haru was away. Hikari knew how much you missed him and wanted to keep you smiling despite all the hardships and struggles. After all, seeing "Mommy" sad made him feel bad deep inside.
~timeskip~
"Mommy, why isn't Daddy home yet?"
Several hours had passed and there still was no sign of Haru. Hikari sat for hours; waiting patiently for Haru's arrival. You noticed several drawings left in front of the door. One had stick figures of you and Haru holding hands with Hikari.
You glanced over your shoulder to find Hikari falling asleep on the living room floor.
How cute...
You picked him up as you carried him up to his bedroom. Hikari looked quite adorable asleep. He was grabbing onto you; leaning his head on your shoulder. You felt him tug gently onto your shirt as he slowly woke up.
"M-Mommy...where's Daddy?" Hikari asked persistently.
There was a worried expression on his face. His lips quivered and tears filled the inner corners of his eyes.
"Don't worry, Daddy will be home tomorrow!" you reassured him.
"But I want Daddy now!!"
Hikari burst into tears as he held onto you. You couldn't help but shed a tear as you hugged him tightly.
"Shhh..it's time for bed..Daddy wouldn't want to see you awake.."
Hikari calmed down as you tucked him into bed. He snuggled into the sheets, holding his favourite plush dolphin.
"We'll visit Daddy tomorrow, okay?"
Hikari nodded, giving you a small kiss on the cheek.
"I love you Mommy."
"I love you too baby."
Hikari turned in your direction, giving a pouty face.
"Mommy! I'm not a baby, I'm a big boy!!"he pouted.
You gave a slight giggle.
"Okay! Goodnight sweetie!"
~next day~
I hope I got the right address.
You parked in front of a small house in a quiet neighbourhood. You were surrounded by a colourful array of cherry blossom trees. Groups of neighbour kids played on the sidewalk as adults had their daily gossip session. You could imagine yourself living in a perfect neighbourhood like this with Haru. Your fate stood 100 ft. away.
Now was your chance.
You looked to the back seat of the car to find Hikari asleep in his car seat; his dolphin plushie clutched in his arms.
"Hikari..we're here at Daddy's place!!"
Hikari woke up after a long nap feeling refreshed and energized. He looked out to his left to find a small house with the number "21". His eyes widened as he cried happily; attempting to unbuckle his seat belt as fast as he could.
You let out a small laugh. You helped him unbuckle from his seatbelt as you watched him run towards the front door.
"Daddy! Daddy!"
You watched Hikari knock persistently on the door. You could tell he was quite ecstatic to see Haru after two years.
He's such a cute kid. I You
However, you were wrong...
You heard a loud cry along with several yells.
Hikari!
You quickly ran up to him to find him crying loudly.
YOU HURT MOMMY!!
Hikari started hitting Haru; crying louder.
THAT GIRL ISNT MOMMY!! WHY SHE KISSING YOU??
The moment you heard that phrase, your heart shattered into millions of pieces.
You looked into the home to find a scantily clothed woman alongside Haru.
Could the one you've been waiting for....betray you all this time?
"WHY ARE YOU HERE?!? I'm not your daddy anymore!!"
Those words scarred Hikari as he ran crying to you. He was only a small child and hearing those harsh words broke his tiny heart.
MOMMY!!! MOMMYYYY!!
Hikari hugged you tightly; crying into your shirt. You couldn't help but cry yourself. Seeing Haru leave you for someone else hurt you enough, but hearing him say that to his own son broke you entirely.
You faced Haru, giving him a hard slap across the cheek.
"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD SAY THAT TO A SMALL CHILD!! DO YOU REALIZE HOW MUCH HE MISSED YOU?"
"I DONT NEED ALL YOUR RANTINGS ABOUT HOW LONG YOUVE WAITED!! DO YOU EVEN KNOW THE REAL REASON WHY I LEFT??"
Hikari cried harder; holding you closer within his reach.
"HARU!!! YOU'RE SCARING HIKARI!!"
"I WONT REGRET IT, AND YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE I WONT REGRET?"
Hikari looked up at you and Haru. He couldn't bear to see his parents fight like this. He always dreamt of a happy life where "Mommy"and "Daddy" would love each other and they'd be a happy family...but all of that wasn't within reach...
"THIS IS WHAT I WONT REGRET!!" Haru yelled as he threw your wedding ring on the street.
"DADDY!! NO!!"Hikari cried, chasing after the ring
You looked over your shoulder to find him picking up the ring.
"HIKARI!!!!!"
...no response
"HIKARIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!"
.........it was far too late
*beep* *beeeeeppp*
~Extended Ending~
M-My Baby...
You held onto your son's frail hand as you watched him rest peacefully in a long coma.
I'm so sorry Hikari-chan..
A mother's worst fear was to lose her child. Hikari was so young, you couldn't lose him just yet.
You were looking forward to making more memories with him.
You wanted to see him take his first step on his first day of school and to take his first swimming lesson at the Iwatobi Swim Club....but this was all a dream; a dream that would never be reality
You stroked your son's black hair as you laid a kiss on his forehead.
When you recover, we could get ice cream and see the Dolphins....
....no response...
Mommy also brought your favourite...
You held a small bento box filled with mackerel.
.....still no response.....
Mommy also has your favourite plush dolphin
You let a few tears slide down your cheek until you finally broke down..
Hikari...Come back....Mommy misses you....
You tightly held onto Hikari's plush dolphin as you hugged him tightly.
My baby...my baby is gone
Standing outside the door was none other than your husband, Haruka Nanase.
He watched as you hugged your son one last time before shedding a tear.
You turned around to find your husband putting an arm around your shoulder.
"....Haru....how could you..."
You faced him in tears.
"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO MY BABY BOY ..YOU TOOK MY BABY AWAY FROM ME....
He looked down in shame and guilt. He knew he was the cause to all this drama; he could be the cause for Hikari's death.
You could remember the joy finding out about your pregnancy. You couldn't wait to tell Haru after he came home from work. The expression on his face was irreplaceable. He kissed you like he never did before.
"I promise to take good care of you and our baby." he said, kissing your small baby bump.
You knew he would make a good father... right?
Just thinking of all those happy memories made you lose hope..
There was nothing worth to live for...
You grabbed your purse; running to the nearest bathroom..
Forgive me Hikari...
You opened a bottle of pills as you began to place a few in your hand..
Goodbye...
....but just as you were about to swallow.....
___________! STOP IT!!!
Haru broke into the bathroom door, grabbing the bottle out of your hands.
HARU!!! GIVE ME THAT BACK!! I NEED TO DIE!!
You wrestled him into retrieving the bottle, but there was no use.
__________, LISTEN TO ME!!! Hikari wouldn't want to see you like this, would he?
"But Haru...I WANT TO GET RID OF THESE MISTAKES!! EVERYTHING HERE IS A MISTAKE...and this is the only way to fix it....
Haru looked deep into your ______ eyes as he held your hands.
"But falling in love with you wasn't"
You paused for a minute; looking up into Haru's eyes. His eyes were a sparkling, navy blue; focusing into yours.
Slowly, Haru leaned in towards you, placing a delicate kiss on your lips.
" No matter how hard I try to forget you...my heart can't... "
At that moment, all you could do was cry. Part of you wanted Haru, but part of you refused.
"Haru...I can't..."
You left the room as quickly as you could to be grabbed by Haru.
"Know that even if you stop loving me...I'll never stop loving you .."
With no choice, you leapt into Haru's arms; kissing him like you never did before.
" Haru...I don't want to leave you "
You broke into tears as you held him closer.
"I'll always love you and our baby boy"
Just as he was about to kiss you one more time...
"HIKARI-CHAN!!"
He turned around to find his hospital bed.....
...Empty...
"N-no this can't be."
HIKARIIIIIIIII-CHAN!!
You cried out with all strength...but it was no use..
"Mommy, why are you crying?"
There, you looked over your shoulder to find your little Hikari hugging your waist.
"Mommy...don't cry..."
You gave a small smile as you carried Hikari.
"Mommy won't cry, okay?"
"Okay!"
Hikari looked up at Haru, tilting his head slightly.
"Mommy, is Daddy coming home?"
Haru smiled as he laid a kiss on Hikari's forehead.
"Daddy is coming home." he smiled, giving you a sweet kiss on the lips.
"Eww...Mommy and Daddy are kissing.." Hikari giggled, turning away as he covered his eyes.
You smiled, giving Hikari another kiss on his forehead.
Maybe we can all go out for ice cream after we bring Daddy home, okay? you said.
Hikari tilted his head cutely, staring curiously towards you.
"Mommy?"
You turned to Hikari as he slightly tugged onto your shirt.
"Yes, sweetie?"
"Can I have a little sister?"

Waiting For You [nanase haruka x reader]
Haruka was on his daily visit to see you. It was the only chance he got to talk to you, always believing you could hear him. Always choosing to hope you were likely to wake from your coma.
On the way to your room, he was stopped by a doctor, “Make the most of these days,” he advised Haruka. Instead of saying something in reply, he rushed towards your room. His breath hitched when he saw you, like every other time he came to visit you. Walking towards you, he reached for your hand as he sat down beside you.
“(Y/n)? Can you hear me?” Haruka looked for any movement, a brief flicker of hope in his eyes.
